Two of my short stories have been High Commended in World Best anthologies. I’ve decided to turn them into little e-books and give them away. Here’s the link.
‘Purgatory’ is one of my Social Engineer stories set in a near future Australia which is run by the Council of Social Engineers. According to them they live in the best of all possible worlds. It is social science fiction and explores questions of moral choice.
‘Suffer the Little Children’ is set in the late 1960s in a small Australian town. It is dark fantasy and it explores small town predjudices and the responsibilities of neighours.
This is the first time I’ve done this. Thank to my DH for doing the covers and putting the stories into e-book format. We’ve had a couple of friends with e-readers read them and they were working, so there shouldn’t be any problems. Hope you enjoy … or more accurately, hope they stories resonate with you and keep you thinking about the characters long after you finish them … muaahha ha ha …
This reader thanks the author of King Rolen’s Kin for her generosity π
LOL. It’sonly generosity of the reader has an e-reader. I don’t have one yet. But I’m veering that way. Books take up so much room in my brief case.
I lashed out and bought a Kindle … it also handles a lot of PDF reading that I’m doing at the moment .. With the “leather” cover, it’s still reasonably light weight. I just have to remember that I can’t “dog ear” the screen π
I’m still tossing up which e-reader to buy. I want one that isn’t limited by DRM. And then I get greedy and think, why not have colour, why not have a keyboard attachment, so I can write if I get overcome by a story. See my problem …
My ebook gadget is a computer. Why settle for having to carry many gadgets, a reader for ebooks, a mp3 player for music, email and text on your phone or a “crackberry”, etc … If you don’t mind the size and weight, which some do, a computer is still the single most useful gadget, IMNSHO. (grin)

LOL, WB. I’m just greedy. Want it to do everything a computer does, without having to carry around a laptop.
Thank you for the stories. I don’t want go all “editor” on you ,but the word “friends” is misspelled. I thought you’d like to know.
Thanks
WB
Thanks, Wizardbear. My fingers fell over themselves! Will fix ASAP.
This was a pleasant surprise. I’ve got two more stories to read π
Hope you enjoy them, 4th Guy. Sometimes I wonder why we writers write short stories. (Technically, it’s because the idea works as a short story) But from a career point of view there’s not a lot of incentive once you’re published novel length..
